Niagara Thunderhawks Minor Lacrosse

Can/Am Challenge

The Can / Am Challenge

The Can/Am challenge is a Lacrosse exchange with the the Radnor Youth Lacrosse Club out of the City of Philadelphia. Once a year, players from the town of Niagara on the Lake and the city of Philadelphia meet over a weekend to play, teach & build friendships through the game of Lacrosse.  Former residence and lacrosse hall of famers Mike & Paul French along with the NOTL Minor Lacrosse Association organize training clinics, scrimmages, social events and billeting accommodations to immerse players in a full lacrosse experience.

The players develop and hone their skills in all things field lacrosse during the trips to Philadelphia and all things box lacrosse when visiting NOTL.  It is a unique situation where there is a sharing of skills, strategies and experiences between players and coaches to help kids broaden their lacrosse experience and most importantly develop lifelong friends & experiences through the game of lacrosse.

Players were billeted with families of the Philadelphia players.  The host family fed, boarded and transported the players to all the events.  It is expected that billeted players will reciprocate when Philadelphia players arrive the next year to NOTL.

Parents traveling to Philadelphia in 2015, stayed at the University of Villanova Conference Centre.

During non playing time activities were arranged by the billeting families. In 2015, the organizers arranged to get tickets for the NCAA Men's field lacrosse championships.  This was an amazing experience where the players paraded on the field before one of the semi-final games.
